Meta Ads UTM Parameter

BULK EDIT

You can bulk edit up to 200 ads at a time using Facebook’s Bulk Edit tool to apply Bloom's tracking parameters.

Steps to Bulk Edit Ads

  1. Open Ads Manager.

  2. You can select all relevant campaigns. Note: Advantage+ Shopping Campaigns must be edited separately from standard campaigns. Skip Messenger ads – they don't support URL parameter editing.

  3. Switch to the Ad level.

  4. Select up to 200 ads on the current page.

  5. Click the dropdown next to “Edit” → choose “URL Parameters”.

  6. In the "Edit all selected ads" field, paste the appropriate Bloom UTM snippet.

  7. Click “Save to Draft”.

  8. If you have more than 200 ads, go to the next page and repeat steps 3–7.

  9. Once all drafts are ready, review & Publish your changes.

Bloom UTM Snippet to Use

If your ad does not have existing URL parameters:

?utm_source=meta&utm_medium=paid&utm_campaign={{campaign.name}}&utm_term={{adset.name}}&utm_content={{ad.name}}&bl_source={{site_source_name}}&bl_adid={{ad.id}}&bl_campaign={{campaign.id}}

If your ad already has existing parameters:

&bl_source={{site_source_name}}&bl_adid={{ad.id}}&bl_campaign={{campaign.id}}

Usage Tip:

Always use " ? " when adding parameters to a clean URL.

Use " & " if parameters already exist.

MANUAL EDIT

Where to Add: Ads Manager > Ad Level > Tracking Settings > URL Parameters

Snippet to Use:

bl_source={{site_source_name}}&bl_adid={{ad.id}}

Notes: {{site_source_name}} and {{ad.id}} are Meta’s dynamic parameters. By using these parameters, Bloom Analytics can identify the exact ad that brought the user to your site.

Important Notes:

  • Messenger Ads cannot be updated with URL parameters — skip these.

  • Prioritize active and recently active ads to ensure tracking is applied where it matters most.

  • Follow the correct format to ensure the Bloom Pixel tracks performance accurately.

  • Advantage+ Shopping Campaigns must be edited separately from standard campaigns.
